The rotten thing about it is the many foals born because of it and the things that happen to the unwanted foals.

Making the medicaton would be ok if it wasn't for the foals that suffer.  Also the mares have to stand in small areas for long periods at a time.

There are other medications out there that do the same thing but aren't made out of the urine.

I'll quote some things found on the internet...

.
Although there are free range systems available the ranchers have shown little interest, most continuing to house these mares in battery farmed conditions.

The animals must wear rubber urine collection bags at all times, which cause chafing and lesions, and their drinking water is limited so that their urine will yield more concentrated Estrogen.

Too often these bags are tight and the stalls are made deliberately narrow to prevent the mare laying down and detaching their collection bags, so the mares are forced to stand for most of their 11month pregnancies in extremely unhygienic conditions.

That's just one of the things written out there...then there are the foals. (taken from another site)

Each year hundreds of innocent mares and foals are slaughter unnecessarily by The ( I'll leave the name out)

. The company manfactures the drug (>>>>)  which is used as a hormone therapy in women. (<<<<<<)   is a pill

made from pregant mare urine. The company funds ranches to have these mare kept pregant to get their urine,

The mares are kept in awful and inhumane conditions. Once the foals are born they are no use to the company so
they are slaughtered along with the mares that can no longer make their quota. There are other alternatives to

this drug that work the same, and the company's practice is unnecessary and cruel.

From what I hear to save one of the foals it's about $700.00, the price it would go for if sold to the meat market.

anyone can put PMU foal or pregnant mare urine in google and find info on these helpless babies.

I feel so badly for the foals and the mares they get rid of. It reminds me of the destruction  of the mustangs.

I didn't know about what really went on in order for the medical companies to get the ingredient to make their medication.  I feel that the foals and the unproductive mares are treated more like a piece of garbage instead of an animal that has feelings.

Other medical companies manufacture their own version of that medicine without using pregnant mare's urine.

I feel that a lot of the people in the USA have become a throw away group, tossing out something instead of getting it repaired. ....so that way of acting is passed along to include animals with feelings...can feel cold, heat, hunger, thirst, pain..and so on.

If more people are aware of how horrible this is, maybe those companies will be forced to change their  practice and come up with a better way to make that medication.
