Yes, that sounds good. The main element of these stories is that one piece of vital information that could flip the whole situation is concealed from the reader.

I read a good one in a magazine the other day about this girl, she'd  spent days wishing for this day to come, and the whole story is convincing you shes going to meet someone else, but its actually her father shes going to meet.

Tom Sawyer
Tom Sawyer, a mischievous boy with an active imagination who spends most of the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, getting himself and often his friend, into and out of trouble. When the book begins Tom is a mischievous child who can trick his Aunt Polly in numerous ways. One moment includes when Tom comes home at supper Aunt Polly asks Tom important questions in an effort to confirm her suspicion that he skipped school that afternoon and went swimming instead. Tom explains his wet hair by saying that he pumped water on his head and shows her that his collar is still sewn from the morning, which means he couldn’t have taken his shirt off to swim. Aunt Polly is satisfied, but Sid, Tom’s half-brother, points out that the shirt thread, which was white in the morning, is now black. Tom has re-sewn the shirt himself to hide his mischief. Another would be on Saturday morning, Aunt Polly sends Tom out to whitewash the fence. Ben Rogers, a boy Tom’s age, walks by and Tom convinces Ben that whitewashing a fence is great to do and after some dealing, Ben agrees to give Tom his apple in exchange for the benefit of working on the fence. Later on in the day, every boy who passes ends up staying to whitewash, and each one give Tom something in return. By the time the fence has three coats, Tom has collected a bunch of different treasures. Tom’s usual misbehavior causes him to get a whipping or two. But that never bothers Tom at all. Tom also has an active imagination during the course of the story one example would be when Tom is depressed about Becky’s rejection of him, and goes to the nearby woods where He then thinks about going away somewhere, just disappearing. He imagines himself joining a band of Indians and moving to the far West or becoming a clown in the circus. Better still, he thinks about becoming a pirate. He decides he will leave home the next morning to practice piracy. Carelessly, Tom starts digging the ground with his knife to find the marble he has recently buried. He believes in the superstition that if a boy buries a marble and comes back two weeks later and digs it up, he will find all the marbles that he has ever lost. With that in mind, he starts digging in deep, but finds no more marbles. He says to himself that a witch probably has got in the way. Soon his friend Joe soon joins him and they pretend to be Robin Hood and Guy of Guisborne. This leads to another example of Tom’s imagination the two boys play being Robin Hood and Guy of Guisborne. Tom always wants to be in a commanding position and hates to lose a fight. When he is losing, he reminds Joe that he is Robin Hood, who always wins the fight. Joe agrees and lets Tom win. As Tom is changing over the course of the story he becomes more mature, responsible and sometimes a hero, some of those moments are when Muff Potter’s trial approaches Tom is called in for questioning where he admits that he was in the graveyard on the night of the murder. He tells everyone in the court room that Injun Joe has murdered Dr. Robinson. Another example would be when Tom becomes a true hero in Becky’s eyes. She is guilty opening the teacher’s desk, taking out a book that is usually under lock and key, and tearing one of the pages. Tom saw the whole incident. When the teacher discovers the torn page, he is angry, and Becky is sacred and guilty. But Tom takes the punishment from the teacher, tells him that he was the one who tore the page and takes the punishment that Becky deserves. Despite Tom’s mischievous attitude, troublesome actions and wild imagination he has a good heart. This is why Tom Sawyer is among the favorite characters in the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
