hey i was riding my freinds horse goldie yesterday and though i managed to keep him next to the fence we had a few other problems. like he would just stop when he wanted too and though i could get him going again i'm not sure i did it right any suggestions on how physically to get a horse to move forward. i just squeezed with my left and then my right leg and said walk on. also when ever i asked him to back up instead of backing straight up he'd end up facing a completely different direction. does anyone have any ideas on what i'm doing wrong?  Sad help please

Maybe others might not, but personally I would find it interesting and useful if we had some tips here for anyone and from anyone about horsecare, riding, training, shows and the like. I want to do more shows but I don't know how to progress and maybe others have problems, so we could d an agony aunt thing, maybe?

ehy, deferential, maybe you should try makeing tying-up time happy time or somthing!
i dunno, like tell him wata great boy he is when he's not fussing??

and sortychick, on't worry., if its your first lesson, they'll teach you more than we could in a forum. just remembr to be calm nd relaxd b/c horess and pick up on thier riders emotions, and if your scared, he'll htink theres something to be scared of, and it won't be fun!
