She comes in to the series in A Winters Gift. This is the next special edition after BTH and before A Summer to Remember (the one that came out last week in the US).
Special editon 1: Holiday Memories (Winter Memories in the UK) based in the series around book 18 (I think - off the top of my head!)
After the series:
Special Edition 2: Beyond the Horizon Special Edition 3: A Winters Gift Special Edition 4: A Summer to Remember
Hope that clears it up!

OK here is what happens:
Ty + Amy break up in the book Beyond the Horizon
in the Book A Winters Gift Amy finds out that Ty has a new girlfriend named Heather. Ty doesnt tell Amy but then she finds out and is really upset. At first she doesnt like Heather and in the end of the book they become friends..........................................
I WANT TY TO B WITH AMY!!!!!! *WAAAAAAA* haha

See, if I'd had warning of just how bad the special editions were, I probably never woud have read them myself either. I'd have stopped with #20 because it was the perfect ending to the series. Why having said it was the last one they felt the need to do more in the first plalce is beyond me.
