We were all sitting there waiting for him to make a movement of any kind. Everyone in the stands was sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting. I was holding my breath and it all replayed again in my mind. The bull busted out of the chute with so much power the stands seemed to shake. He twisted to the left, then to the right, with a high kick in between the two turns. There was bull saliva slung everywhere from this frightening animal. He turned suddenly to the right away from the rider’s hand. I watched in horror as the rider lost his seat and couldn’t get himself repositioned. The horrible thing was that his hand was caught in the bull strap. He didn’t have time to try to untie the strap before the bull was pulling him along. The bull smashed him into the gates and was violently bucking in every direction. The bull was bucking and kicking the rider who was now under the bull's underside. The bullfighters had made countless attempts to free the rider’s hand, risking their lives to save the rider who was now in a rough condition. The bull had now stepped on the rider a dozen times and was still dragging him around the arena. He only wanted to get rid of the thing that was now daggling at his side and the only way he though he could do that was by running into the fence again and again. The bullfighter finally caught the rope and freed the rider from the ferocious beast. The bull ran to the holding gate, being herded by the team roper in the arena. The crowd was now silent, so silent you could hear the bulls breathing in the holding pens below. I now gaze out into the dirt filled arena were a lifeless body now lies. The paramedics rush out to this little slip of a man and start CPR. The pulse is weak and the paramedics are rushing to get the pulse rate up. The rider is unconscious and it seems that they are too late. They check for a pulse one more time before they decide to give up. What the fingers of the paramedic’s are met by is a now strong pulse. The paramedics rush the rider out on the backboard and an ambulance carries him away. Twelve riders go before the announcer speaks again. He speaks into the microphone with a sign of relief. “Ladies and gentlemen,” the announcer booms into the arena, “we have just received news on the rider who was taken out just minutes before. It seems that he has fractured 5 of his ribs, has a severe concussion, a broken leg, and has broken his arm. He has also knocked out 3 teeth and has pulled his shoulder out of its socket along with a broken collarbone. He has some nasty gashes and a black eye plus a bald spot for his nasty head wound. We can gladly say that with some patience and medical care he will make a full recovery. Lets hear it for Mckennon Landruoff.” Everyone around me cheers wildly for the bull rider they just seen get hurt so badly. I soon join in and cheer for the man I though was dead just seemed like minutes before. I walk out of the stand of the arena with such a respect for the bull riders that I can’t stand myself. I now understand that it takes courage, both the physical and mental strength and ability, and soul to get on a 1200 pound bull and stay on that ferocious beast for 8 dangerous, heart-racing, frightening seconds. Bull riders will and forever have the respect they deserve from the people and me who were here tonight to witness the disaster that may have happened.
Tell me what you think... Can you picture it all happening? Does it feel like your in the stand there with me? Can you hear the stands silence through the arena?

wow as a rider i can honestly tell youthat you have what it takes to make it to the bigtime
yes, to answer your questions, i could feel the tension and hear everything
a piece of advice (because im guessing thats why you posted ur story) you repeat 'the bull' alot. i dunno if you found a synonym or something??
and (sorry if i make you feel bad or anything) but tho i could picture everything, i dobt i had the emotion you wanted me to have cuz, you see, bull fighting and all that is actually totally inhuman. if you did a bit of research (at the right sites, tho) i think ud agree. when i read ur story i felt horrible becaues did u know that in bullfighting, they put vaseline in the bull's eyes to obsucre his vision, stuff his snostrils with cotten to make it harder for him to breath (and feel more threatened, hence more aggressive), and take his horns and yand thim so that they're messed up, and his sence of balance is all lost.
sorry if i made u eel bad....but the actual writing was excellent!

I'm not being disrespectful and I appreciate the advice, but some of your facts are not true about the actual bull riding.. The PBR association has made so many rules against all of the stuff you listed... The bulls are trained to buck and spin and everything... They can't put vaseline in their eyes because it would be considered animal abuse and if you go to this website they have all this information about it. I am also a huge fan of bull RIDING *not fighting* and have been watching it since I was about two. This year I actually get to go to the program down in Tulsa, Ok. I'm very excited. But thank you kindly for answering to my post. I hope that I haven't offended you. Have a wonderful day and smile....
