Chestnut Hill is a younger series, the girls in it are (I think) 12 or 13 in the first book. They attend a bording school, Chestnut Hill, that has horses and riding as part of the ciriculum. There is a little bit of romance, but not like Heartland cause they're younger. Obviously horses are a big part of it, but they're not the only thing and there isn't anything like the problems of Heartland (apart from the second book, in which Amy makes an appearence to help a horse). They're okay books, but not nearly as serious or well written as Heartland. But you won't really know if you'll like them or not without trying them yourself. Oh, and the books are from different perspectives. The series basically follows 4 girls, and they take it in turns to 'narrate' so the first book is about Dylan, then Malory, then Honey, then Lani, then back to Dyaln etc. It's not confusing at all, but you may get on better with one girls atittude than anothers.

No problem. I love that side of Heartland too, but I tried CH anyway. I read so much that I'm always looking for more books so it just made sense lol

I'm way older than that group and and I still read them. I find most of the characters annoying, and the storylines aren't great, but they have horses and they're short and can be read in a couple hours. Given the amount of time on my hands I have, I still read them. But they're not 'must haves' like most other things I read.

See, I dissagree with anyone who says Heartland is for 12-13 year olds. Yes the romance is very tame, and they're really short, but Amy is still 15 at the start of the series, 18 by the end (I'm ignoring the special editions, even though she's even older there) and most of the subject matter is pretty serious, doesn't always have a happy ending, and is gererally much darker than Chestnut Hill. So really, although plenty of younger teens can enjoy the books, I don't see how older teens can't get just as much from them.

i totally agree, i mean i am passed that age group but its true the material in the books is not always for younger teens. i think its pretty much all age groups if they have interests in the topic!

Chestnut Hill is easier to relate to - unless a family member has died, you actually own or work with horses not just like them, youve had a relation ship with a good friend and a few others i cant think of. but that may be cuz im only 15. I havent reread heartland in awhile so...yeah
