Amy's Journal is not within the series, it's more of an information book. Basically it describes a bit about what some of the methods used at Heartland really are. There is a (very) short story in it too, which is a flashback so actually comes before the whole series. And there is an introduction written from Amy's point of view. Although, it doesn't sound like her cause she sounds way too girly, younger and not nearly as serious as she normally is. It's okay, not great, but kinda worth having.

A Holiday Memory (titled Winter Memories in the UK) is a flashback book. In other words, apart from the very beginning and end, it's set before the series. The bits that fit in to the series come around book 18 I think, but I'm not sure, and really, if you've read all the series, it doesn't matter. If you read them out of order, the only spoiler you get is that Lou and Scott are engaged. This is a good book, it's all about Sundance really, and Amy learning some important stuff from her mom, the winter before her death. I really liked it, I thought it was a nice look back at things, and this one you should definitely order online!
